First 4 teams: Japan (2.), China(3.), South Korea (5.) and Taiwan qualified to World Women Junior 1985.
For some reason Taiwan withdrew from World Championship and was replaced by Australia (12.). New Zealand (15.) was also invited.
India withdrew unexpectedly just before the competition began. The timetable was re-scheduled from 7 to 5 days.
New Zealand was a late entry after the June 15 closing date, but its entry was accepted by the Asian Volleyball Council and the organising committee.
Hong Kong and Singapore were enable to enter, because of a clash with school time in those countries.
